A brief insight into the tragic affairs in India, owing to the extreme callousness on behalf of the authorities, taking up two extremely disturbing cases that came to light on the same day.

Another tragic yet horrifying incident came to the public light last evening. A woman’s body was found being transported in a garbage dumpster truck, instead of an ambulance for her autopsy. The incident came forward exactly a day after pictures of food being cooked inside a toilet in Madhya Pradesh’s Anganwadi center at Karera went viral. Both incidents showcase great callousness on behalf of the concerned authorities.

The only difference between the two incidents being that, the autopsy case received at least some show of concern from the authorities. Chief Minister, Kamal Nath, in his tweet the same day, commented on the incidence calling it a blot on humanity, followed by stern action against the concerned authorities, for their negligence. Which was however, met with no show of concern from the police, who were actually responsible for transporting the victim, Ms. Puja Ojha’s body to the hospital for her autopsy. Showcasing sheer lack of respect for the deceased, as well as procedure.

Coming on to the inexcusable scenario of food being cooked for mid-day meals in a bathroom full of kitchen equipment. The bathroom was replete with everything a kitchen normally has, ranging from utensils (in which  the meals were to be served to the children, being stored on the toilet seats), to LPG stove & earthen stoves, that too in a bathroom built under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. As if, the entire scenario in itself with utter lack of hygiene was not bad enough, things were made worse by the comments of Minister Imarti Devi, who felt that there was nothing wrong in the entire set up, as long as there were partitions existed between the toilet seat & the cooking stove.

Over the years, reverse scenarios of kitchens being converted into make shift toilets have been reported over the years, but this just crosses the mark, adding another cherry to the mid- day meal controversies.

A little concern for the public, who the authorities are apparently working for, could make a huge difference in how the nation actually operates.
